PayID casino Australia: how PayID works at online casinos

PayID is the fastest way most Australians move money, which is why it is the first thing pokies players look for. Here is how it works at a casino and what to check first.

Key facts

  • PayID is part of Australia's New Payments Platform, run by Australian Payments Plus (AP+), alongside Osko.
  • Your bank sets your daily limit for payments to a PayID, not the casino. Check it before you deposit.
  • None of our partners lists PayID: four publish their payment methods and PayID is not among them, and the rest show methods only in the cashier.
  • A casino's withdrawal limits still apply, however fast the payment method is.
  • Never pay a fee or send a second payment to 'unlock' a PayID transfer.

What PayID is

PayID lets you pay someone using an easy identifier, such as an email address, phone number or ABN, instead of a BSB and account number. It runs on Australia's New Payments Platform, and it is operated by Australian Payments Plus (AP+), the organisation that also runs Osko, BPAY and eftpos. Most Australian banks support it in their app.

For online casinos, the appeal is simple: you pay from your bank app without typing card details into a website, and the money usually lands in under a minute.

How a PayID casino deposit works

  1. In the casino cashier, choose PayID and enter the amount.
  2. The cashier shows a PayID (often an email address) and sometimes a reference.
  3. Open your bank app, pay that PayID the exact amount and include the reference.
  4. Check the name your bank shows for the PayID before you confirm. It may be a payment company rather than the casino brand.
  5. The cashier credits your balance once the payment is matched.

Who sets the limits

Your bank sets your PayID limit. Australian Payments Plus says financial institutions may set daily limits for bank account payments, including payments to a PayID, so the limit is in your banking app, not the casino's cashier. First payments to a new PayID can also be held by your bank for a security check.

The casino then adds its own rules on top: a minimum deposit, sometimes a maximum, and separate withdrawal limits. At Wild Tokyo, for example, entry-level withdrawals are capped at AUD 800 a day and AUD 13,000 a month, whatever method you use.

What we found at our partners

None of our partners lists PayID. Four of them (LuckyOnes, VegasNow, Lucky Dreams and Wanted Win) publish a full payments page, and PayID is not on any of them; the other six show payment methods only in the cashier after you log in. We do not list a casino as a PayID casino until we can confirm it, so treat every casino below as "check the cashier first".

Check these before your first PayID deposit

  • Withdrawals. Does the cashier offer PayID for withdrawals, or only deposits? If only deposits, what will you be paid by, and how long does it take? If the answer is a bank transfer, our bank transfer guide lists payout minimums and timeframes from casinos' own terms.
  • Fees. Does the casino charge for deposits or withdrawals by this method?
  • Verification. Most casinos ask for ID before your first withdrawal. Doing it early avoids a delay when you win. Wild Tokyo's terms say verification can take up to 72 hours.
  • The name on the PayID. Your bank shows who owns the PayID before you pay. If it looks like a private person's name, stop and ask support.

PayID red flags

Most PayID problems are scams, not casino rules. Never send a second payment or a "fee" to unlock a deposit or a withdrawal, and never follow payment instructions from someone who contacted you first. Our online casino scams guide covers fees to release winnings and the other warning signs. Once a PayID payment is made it generally cannot simply be reversed, so if something feels wrong, call your bank straight away.

Pundit tip: a fast deposit method does not make a fast casino. What decides how quickly you get paid is the casino's review time, its verification rules and its withdrawal limits.

Online casinos cannot be licensed in Australia. Before you deposit anywhere, read are online pokies legal in Australia, and for payout speed, see our fast withdrawal casinos guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is a PayID casino?

A PayID casino is an online casino whose cashier accepts deposits, and sometimes withdrawals, by PayID: you send money from your bank app to a PayID such as an email address or ABN instead of entering card details.

Are PayID deposits instant?

PayID payments run on Australia's New Payments Platform and usually arrive in under a minute between participating banks. First payments to a new PayID can be held by your bank for security checks, so allow extra time the first time.

What is the PayID limit for casino deposits?

There is no single limit. Australian Payments Plus says each financial institution may set daily limits for bank payments, including payments to a PayID. Check your banking app for your limit, and the casino cashier for its own minimum and maximum.

Can I withdraw casino winnings by PayID?

Only if the casino offers PayID for withdrawals, which is not always the case even when it accepts PayID deposits. Check the withdrawal options in the cashier before you deposit, and remember the casino's withdrawal limits still apply.

Can a PayID payment be cancelled?

Once a PayID payment has gone through it generally cannot simply be cancelled. If you think you have been scammed or sent money by mistake, contact your bank straight away.
