Verdict
PointsBet scores 7.4 out of 10. It sets specific, short payout targets, runs 24/7 support on three channels, and has a racing and multi menu with ideas other bookmakers do not offer. It loses ground on safety: ACMA found in 2025 that it sent marketing to people who had registered with BetStop, alongside hundreds of spam breaches. This is a desk review of PointsBet's help centre, its App Store listing, the Northern Territory register, ASX filings and ACMA, all read on 8 October 2026. The pointsbet.com.au site itself blocked our connection, so we read its help centre instead.
Who owns PointsBet now
The betting service is run by PointsBet Australia Pty Limited (ACN 606 814 920), licensed in the Northern Territory by the NT Wagering Commission "to accept bets and wagers by electronic transmission, 24 hours per day". The parent, PointsBet Holdings Limited, is still listed on the ASX. Its annual report for the nine months to 31 March 2026 says MIXI Australia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's MIXI, Inc., "acquired a controlling interest of 66.43%". Andrew Catterall became Group CEO on 1 February 2026.
The same report puts the Australian business at $167.3 million of net win over those nine months, down 4%, with $1,690.7 million bet on sport. MIXI's control has not changed the licensed company or the licence, which still sit with PointsBet Australia in the Northern Territory.
PointsBet withdrawal times
| Situation | What PointsBet says |
|---|---|
| Your first withdrawal | Allow about 6 hours |
| Later withdrawals | Within around 30 minutes in most cases |
| Compliance, banking or verification checks | Up to 24 hours |
| Pending more than 1 hour | Ask Live Chat to "speed up my withdrawal" and its bot expedites it |
The minimum is $5, paid to a BSB and account number in your name. The first time you add a bank account you confirm it with a code by SMS or email, or by sending exactly $1.00 to a unique PayID that is refunded instantly.
Deposits: PayTo, PayID, card and Apple Pay
PointsBet is the only bookmaker in our reviews that lists PayTo: you set up an agreement once, approve it in your banking app, and later deposits pull through within about a minute. PayID deposits usually land in 1 to 5 minutes, though your bank may hold the first one for up to 24 hours. Debit card and Apple Pay are the other options. Credit cards are not, under the national credit ban that began on 11 June 2024. For bank-side caps, see our PayID limit guide.
Bonus codes and sign-up offers
People search for a PointsBet deposit match, sign up bonus and promo code. No licensed Australian bookmaker may offer an incentive to open an account or to refer someone; that is Measure 4 of the National Consumer Protection Framework, in force nationally since 2019. Our betting sign up bonus guide explains what bonus bets for existing customers are worth. We do not publish codes.
Bet features
From PointsBet's own App Store listing (rated 4.6 from about 14,600 ratings on 8 October 2026):
- Fixed Odds Exotics: fixed returns on trifectas, first fours, quinellas and exactas, instead of a tote dividend you only learn after the race.
- Hourly Quaddie: a new set of quaddie races every hour on Australian thoroughbreds.
- Pull'Em: remove a leg from your Same Game Multi during the game, on AFL, NRL, NBA and NFL.
- Same Race Multi: several runners to finish in the top 4.
Most SGMs can be cashed out, though PointsBet says cash out may not be available at any given time. If you are weighing a fixed exotic against the tote, our quinella calculator shows what a box costs.
Responsible gambling and the ACMA finding
Deposit limits run over 1, 7, 14 or 30 days and "Take a Break" is available. Verification happens at sign-up, and you cannot log in until it is complete.
In May 2025 ACMA announced that PointsBet paid a $500,800 spam penalty and gave court-enforceable undertakings. Between September and November 2023 it sent 705 promotional emails with no unsubscribe option, labelled "non-commercial". Under the BetStop rules, it delayed closing accounts of people who had registered and sent 508 marketing messages to self-excluded people in August and September 2023. ACMA found no excluded customer was able to place a bet in the period.
Support
Live Chat (typical wait under a minute), phone on 13 72 38 and email at [email protected] all run 24/7. Email replies come within 12 hours.
