Online casino reviews Australia: 35 casinos checked against ACMA's blocked list

Every casino Australians search for, checked against ACMA's blocked list and read clause by clause. No online casino is licensed in Australia, so our reviews start with that fact and work from the operator's own terms.

Magnifying glass over a checklist of ticks and crosses beside a shield, illustrating how our casino reviews are scored

Key facts

  • No online casino can be licensed in Australia. Every casino below is an offshore operator.
  • We checked all 35 brands against ACMA's blocked gambling websites list on 8 October 2026: 28 had their main domain listed, 2 had older or numbered domains listed and 5 were not listed.
  • Every review is a desk review, dated, based on the operator's own terms and official sources. We never claim a hands-on test.
  • Scores use six published weights: payments 25%, terms 20%, safety 20%, responsible gambling 15%, games 10%, support 10%.
  • A brand on ACMA's list scores 2.0 or lower for safety, whatever its bonus.

How our casino reviews work

Each review answers the questions Australians actually type in: is it legit, is it legal here, how fast does it pay, what is the catch in the bonus. We get the answers from three places only: the operator's own terms, banking, bonus and responsible gambling pages; ACMA's blocked gambling websites list; and official sources such as legislation and regulator releases. We do not copy other review sites.

  1. ACMA status first. We look up every domain we can find for the brand in our snapshot of ACMA's list, taken on 8 October 2026.
  2. Operator and licence. We record the company and licence exactly as the operator states them, and say so when it states neither.
  3. The terms, clause by clause. Withdrawal caps, processing times, fees, verification, bonus wagering, maximum bets, inactivity rules and dispute deadlines.
  4. The maths. We turn the terms into dollars: how long a big win takes to withdraw, what wagering costs at a stated return, what a "free" bonus can actually pay.
  5. A score. Six criteria, weighted and published on how we rate casinos. Anything we could not confirm scores 5.0 or lower, and the review says why.

Every review is a desk review dated 8 October 2026. We read the pages; we did not open accounts or deposit.

Every casino we review, with its ACMA status

ACMA lists sites it finds offering gambling services that are illegal in Australia and asks internet providers to block them. This is where each brand stood on our 8 October 2026 snapshot of the list.

Counting the two partial cases with the blocked brands, 30 of the 35 have at least one domain on ACMA's list. ACMA had blocked 1,822 illegal gambling and affiliate websites by late September 2026, and it adds more in batches, so we re-check statuses whenever we update a review.

What the three statuses mean

  • Blocked: the brand's main domain is on ACMA's list. Australian internet providers block it, which is the usual reason a casino "won't load" or a login fails here. The brand may keep trading from new, often numbered, domains.
  • Older or numbered domains blocked: some of the brand's addresses are listed but the one it trades from now is not, at least not yet.
  • Not listed: no domain of the brand appeared on our snapshot. That is not the same as legal. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 prohibits offering online casino games to people in Australia whether or not ACMA has acted. Two of the five not-listed brands, Stake and Jackpot City, go further and list Australia among the places they will not accept in their own terms.

The law's offences are aimed at operators, not players, but ACMA warns that people who use illegal operators risk losing their money. The full picture is in are online pokies legal in Australia.

Patterns from the first 18 reviews we wrote

Reading 18 sets of terms side by side shows how much the fine print varies, and how often the same problems repeat:

  • No named owner. Ten of the 18 name no operating company at all. Some cite a licence without a number; some cite nothing.
  • Weekly withdrawal caps from $2,000 to $7,500. Among brands that cap by the week, the lowest was $2,000 (VIPs included) and the highest $7,500; others cap by the day or month instead. Several brands give different caps on different pages of their own site.
  • Fees for not playing enough. Charges for withdrawing a deposit you have not wagered ran from 10% to 30%, and one brand also charges 10% on a third withdrawal in a day.
  • Short clocks. Dispute deadlines ranged from six months down to three days and, in one case, one hour. Bonus deadlines ran from six months down to 48 hours.
  • Shared software, shared terms. In 2022 ACMA formally warned a company that supplied RTG games to 13 illegal casinos; four brands we review were on its list. Two brands we reviewed publish bonus terms with near-identical clauses and limits.
  • Better tools are possible. A few casinos let you set loss and wager limits yourself, with a delay before you can raise them. Most only offer limits or self-exclusion by emailing support.

How to read any casino review

Before trusting a review, ours included, check that it tells you the operator's company and licence as stated, the casino's ACMA status, the withdrawal cap per week or month, the wagering requirement with its time limit and maximum bet, and the date the facts were checked. If a review gives a score but not the clauses behind it, treat the score as advertising.

Some casinos pay us a commission, and they appear only in the clearly labelled partner block. That never changes a score; see our affiliate disclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Are online casino reviews in Australia trustworthy?

Only if they show their working. Ours start from the operator's own terms and ACMA's blocked list, quote the clause behind each number, date every check and say what could not be confirmed.

Is any online casino legal in Australia?

No. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 prohibits offering online casino games and pokies to people in Australia, and no Australian licence exists for them. Licensed online sports and racing betting and lotteries are legal.

Why review casinos that ACMA has blocked?

Because Australians search for them by name and deserve straight answers about the law, the operator and the fine print. A review that says a casino is blocked and why is more useful than silence.

Does PokiePundit test casinos with real money?

Not for these reviews. Every one is a desk review based on reading terms, banking pages and official sources. If we ever test a casino hands-on, the review will say so and show dated evidence.

Do your partners get better scores?

No. Commission never changes a score or the facts we show. Partner sites appear in a separate, labelled block with our affiliate disclosure, and the scoring weights are the same for every brand.

What does 'not listed' mean in your table?

It means none of the brand's domains appeared on ACMA's blocked list when we took our snapshot on 8 October 2026. It does not mean the casino is legal to offer in Australia; ACMA adds sites after investigating them.
