Neds review: a social betting app with five Punter Assist tools and Entain's BetStop baggage

Neds is Entain's social-first betting brand, licensed in the Northern Territory alongside Ladbrokes. Its app lists five Punter Assist tools and live racing bets, but its payout terms were unreadable from our location.

Good

  • Five named self-control tools, beyond the legal minimum
  • Live streams on all three racing codes
  • Bet Live on thoroughbred and harness races

Watch out

  • Shares Entain's 2026 BetStop finding
  • Social copying and group betting can push stakes up
  • Payout rules and contact details not checkable from our location

Key facts

  • Neds AU is licensed through Entain Group Pty Ltd on the Northern Territory register, the same company as Ladbrokes AU.
  • The app listing names five Punter Assist tools: Block Out, Curfew, Market Control, Check In and Daily Deposit Limits.
  • Bet Live lets you bet on thoroughbred and harness races after the start. Online in-play betting on sport stays banned.
  • ACMA found more than 500 BetStop contraventions across Neds and Ladbrokes in May 2026.
  • neds.com.au and its help centre did not load from our location, so withdrawal times are not confirmed.

Verdict

Neds scores 5.7 out of 10 in our desk review. It is a licensed Northern Territory bookmaker with an unusually long list of named self-control tools, which counts in its favour. Against it: it shares an owner, and an ACMA finding, with Ladbrokes, its social features are built to make betting a group activity, and neds.com.au and its help centre would not load from our location on 8 October 2026. Payments, terms and support therefore stay at or below 5.0.

Neds app and login

Neds is built around the app. On Apple's Australian App Store, "Neds | Ultimate Betting App" is sold by Neds International Pty Ltd and was rated 4.6 from about 5,100 ratings on 8 October 2026. The listing covers horse, greyhound and harness racing plus AFL, NRL, NBA, NFL, tennis, MLB, soccer, motorsport, MMA and esports.

We could not reach the Neds login page or its help articles from where we checked, so we cannot describe the login or password reset steps.

Bet Live: what it is and where the line sits

Neds' listing says Bet Live lets you "be part of the action after the race starts" on thoroughbred and harness racing. That is a racing product. For sport, the line is firm: ACMA describes online in-play betting on sports matches as prohibited, with an exception only for bets placed wholly by phone. In December 2023 ACMA found that Neds, Ladbrokes, Sportsbet and bet365 had used Fast or Quick Codes that let customers build in-play sports bets online before phoning them in; the codes are now generic and issued before events start.

Social betting: Groups, Open Groups and copying

The listing describes Groups, where you and friends chat, share bets and group bet, and Open Groups with "thousands of like-minded punters". Copying a stranger's bet is convenient, but it adds no information about price. If ten people back a team at $1.80, the implied chance is still 1 / 1.80 = 55.6%, and the bookmaker's margin is still in that price. Check the odds with our implied probability calculator before you follow anyone.

Punter Assist: the five named tools

The listing names five tools: Block Out, Curfew, Market Control, Check In and Daily Deposit Limits. It does not explain each one, and we could not open the help pages that do, so set them up in the app and read the in-app description before you rely on any of them. A daily deposit limit is the one with a legal backbone: under the national framework it cannot be raised on the spot.

The legal minimum is a deposit limit and monthly statements, so five named tools is a genuine plus. The minus is that ACMA's 2026 investigation found Entain's systems did not adequately link a customer's multiple accounts. A curfew on one account does nothing for a second account you forgot you had.

Owner, licence and the 2026 BetStop finding

NEDS AU and LADBROKES AU sit on one line of the Northern Territory register: Entain Group Pty Ltd. In May 2026 ACMA found more than 500 contraventions of BetStop rules across the two brands, including accounts opened for self-excluded people and an account left open for more than a year. Entain gave an 18-month court-enforceable undertaking. The full detail is in our Ladbrokes review.

Money: deposits and withdrawals

The listing says you can deposit and withdraw with "debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and more". Credit cards, credit-funded wallets and crypto have been off the table at licensed bookmakers since 11 June 2024. We could not confirm minimums, withdrawal times or any dormant account fee, because the help centre did not load. Until it does, compare payout times with the bookmakers we could read in our betting sites Australia comparison.

Racing and multis

Same Race Multi on Neds covers all three codes: pick 2 to 4 runners to finish anywhere in the top four. It opens about 1 hour before the meeting and depends on field size. Neds Live streams racing on all three codes. Same Game Multis are available on more sports, and our same game multi guide explains why SGM prices are not simply the legs multiplied together.

How we scored it

  • Payments 5.0, terms 5.0: not checkable from our location.
  • Support 4.5: no contact channels or hours we could confirm.
  • Safety 6.0: licensed, large owner, but the 2026 BetStop finding and 2023 in-play history.
  • Responsible gambling 7.0: five named tools, minus the account-linking failure.
  • Bet features 7.0: Bet Live on racing, Same Race Multi, streaming; social features cut both ways.

Weights: how we rate.
